If we want working people to have a real shot at public office, we have to build the support that wealth currently buys.

When someone from our community decides to run, they shouldn’t need personal wealth or a Rolodex full of wealthy donors.

They should have us.

Big money buys the infrastructure that makes running for office possible. We can build it ourselves.

CAPACITY

Staff, technology, and thousands of hours of work. We can spread that work across a community instead of asking one candidate to carry it alone.

EXPERTISE

Campaign strategy, communications, fundraising, organizing, and operations. We can learn it, share it, and keep that knowledge in our communities.

REACH

Money buys access and connections. We already have relationships with neighbors, coworkers, organizations, and communities across New Hampshire. We can bring those networks together.

STAYING POWER

Campaigns disappear after Election Day. What we build doesn’t have to. Every tool, relationship, and skill can make it easier for the next person.

MEMBERSHIP

BRING WHAT YOU’VE GOT.

There are plenty of ways to take part in CFC, but there’s no required number of hours and no single way to contribute. Some members bring professional skills. Some support candidates, work on community projects, join circles, or build programs. Some come to meetings when they can. Some might eventually run for office themselves.

You don’t need political experience, and you don’t need to make politics your entire life (though it doesn’t hurt 😉.)

MEMBER POWER

MEMBERSHIP MEANS HAVING A SAY.

CFC is a membership organization. Members aren’t just donors or names on an email list.

After 30 days, Active Members can vote on candidate endorsements, member representatives, and other decisions put before the membership.

CFC holds at least one Membership Assembly every year to report back on our work, finances, governance, and endorsements.

The people building this organization should have real power within it. So, as a member, you can:

  • Nominate candidates for CFC endorsement.
  • Submit proposals and petitions.
  • Join eligible CFC circles and programs.
  • Seek member-selected leadership roles.
  • Attend Membership Assemblies.
  • Receive regular organizational and financial reports.
  • Ratify or object to candidate endorsements
  • And generally be considered pretty cool.

Membership starts at $4 a month or $48 a year, one dollar for each of our four tenets: Community. Integrity. Solidarity. Democracy.

Give more if you can. Everyone gets the same membership rights, regardless of how much they contribute.

CFC exists to make political participation more accessible to working people. We’re not going to put participation behind a paywall.

Can’t swing $4 right now? That’s okay. Reduced and fully waived dues are available, no explanation required. Money shouldn’t keep anyone from participating.

Membership is open to people with a meaningful connection to New Hampshire. That includes people who live, work, or go to school here, regularly organize or volunteer here, or have an established connection to a New Hampshire community and an ongoing stake in its civic life.

No. Membership is self-enrollment. If you’re eligible, you can join by completing the membership form, affirming CFC’s mission and four tenets, agreeing to our member policies, and setting up your dues or a dues waiver.

No. Members affirm CFC’s mission and four tenets and agree to follow the policies that govern membership. That doesn’t mean members have to agree with one another on every issue or political question.

No. There are no required volunteer hours or meeting attendance requirements. You can get involved as much as your time and capacity allow.

You become a member when you complete the membership process. After 30 continuous days, you become an Active Member and can participate in member votes and consent decisions, as long as your membership remains in good standing.

Choose a reduced amount or have your dues fully waived. You don’t need to provide documentation or explain why. Your dues level does not change your membership rights.

There’s a 28-day grace period to restart your dues or switch to a reduced or waived amount. You remain a member during the grace period, although Active Member voting rights are temporarily paused.

Yes. Candidate endorsements are ultimately subject to member participation under CFC’s endorsement process. Active Members can participate in those endorsement decisions.

Yes. Membership and candidate endorsement are separate. Being a CFC member does not guarantee an endorsement or access to candidate resources.

No. Community First Coalition is a political organization, but it isn’t a political party. Membership does not require joining or belonging to a particular political party.

No. The pledge is a way to affirm the Community First commitments and become part of the broader coalition. Membership is a formal relationship with CFC that comes with specific rights and responsibilities.

Yes. Donating, volunteering, attending an event, or joining the email list does not automatically make you a member. You can support CFC without joining.

Yes, but CFC can’t simply remove someone’s membership without a process. The Membership Policy provides notice, an opportunity to respond, and an appeal process for suspension or termination, except when temporary action is necessary to protect people or the organization.
