TAKE THE COMMUNITY FIRST PLEDGE
Public service carries a responsibility to the whole community. Every decision should be measured by who it helps, who bears the cost, and whether the people affected had a meaningful voice.
The Community First Pledge puts that responsibility into clear terms. It establishes the standard for the people who join, the candidates we support, and the work we undertake together.
THE COMMUNITY FIRST PLEDGE
By taking the Community First Pledge, you are making the following commitments:
Community
I believe politics should be judged by whether it helps working people build stable lives in their own communities.
I will support public decisions that make life better for the people who live here. I will listen to the people affected and remain accountable to them. The economy should serve our communities, rather than allowing private interests to profit while everyone else carries the cost.
integrity
I will not give money to buy influence, accept money that compromises my judgment, or support anyone who answers to donors over communities.
I will not use political work or public service for personal gain at the community’s expense. I will be open about conflicts of interest and step back when private interests interfere with my responsibility to the people I serve.
solidarity
I will treat every person as a neighbor. Their dignity and safety do not depend on their wealth, status, identity, or agreement with me.
I reject scapegoating, hate, and fear politics in all forms. Targeting immigrants, trans people, queer people, women, or any other group divides working people and protects concentrated wealth and power. I will not sacrifice other people to improve my own position. Our neighbors are not our enemies.
Democracy
I believe government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people. The people affected by public decisions should have a real role in making them, and authority should remain as close to them as practical.
I will support fair elections, open government, and reforms that make democracy more accessible and representative. I will also support public institutions that protect rights and address needs communities cannot meet on their own.
WAYS TO TAKE PART
By taking the Community First Pledge, you are making the following commitments:
BECOME A GOVERNING MEMBER
Governing Members help guide Community First. They may nominate candidates, submit proposals, attend member assemblies, apply to join circles, and vote on endorsements once eligible.
Members make a recurring contribution. The amount does not affect their rights or voting power. Someone from Community First will follow up to explain the membership process and help you get started.
JOIN THE VOLUNTEER ROSTER
Campaign tools only help when people are ready to put them to work. The Volunteer Roster brings together people across New Hampshire who can help Community First and the candidates we support.
We handle the organizing, planning, and campaign tools. You tell us what you enjoy doing, what experience you have, and where you are available. We will connect you with work that fits, including opportunities with candidates in your area. Campaign experience is welcome, though it is never required.
STAY CONNECTED
You do not need to take on a formal role to be part of the Community First community.
Stay connected and we will let you know about candidates, volunteer opportunities, events, gatherings, public meetings, and other ways to help. You can take part when something fits your interests or your schedule.
FOR CANDIDATES
The Community First Pledge gives candidates a clear way to state what they believe public service requires. It can be taken while considering a run, organizing a campaign, or already on the ballot.
Taking the pledge does not mean Community First has endorsed a candidate or committed resources to their campaign. Endorsement and candidate support follow a separate review based on the Community First standards, campaign finance, community accountability, conflicts of interest, and CFC’s capacity to provide meaningful support.
Candidates who move through that process may receive help with campaign planning, communications, volunteer organizing, fundraising, voter contact, and shared tools. The purpose is to reduce how much each working-class candidate has to build alone.

Community First organizes the people, tools, and practical support working-class candidates need to run. Donations help keep that support available across New Hampshire.
